IS TUTORING THE RIGHT FIT?

When College Math Tutoring Can Help

Tutoring can help when students need clearer instruction, stronger foundations, or support with demanding coursework.

Fast-Paced Coursework

New material moves faster than the student can fully absorb it.

Prerequisite Gaps

Earlier gaps in algebra or trigonometry interfere with current coursework.

Problem Set Frustration

Assignments take too long or leave the student unsure how to begin.

Exam Performance

Understanding does not consistently carry over to quizzes, midterms, or finals.

Upcoming Exams

The student needs a focused review plan and targeted practice.

Advanced Requirements

The student needs support with accelerated courses or demanding STEM prerequisites.

A FOCUSED APPROACH

How College Math Tutoring Works

Tutoring begins with a clear understanding of the student’s course, current performance, and academic goals. Instruction then adjusts as the student’s needs and coursework change.

Step 1

Assess Current Needs

During the initial consultation, we discuss the current course, recent performance, difficult topics, upcoming exams, and academic goals. Students may also share their syllabus, assignments, assessments, or course materials.

Step 2

Build a Focused Tutoring Plan

I develop a plan around the student’s immediate priorities and longer-term goals. This may include closing skill gaps, supporting current lessons, preparing for exams, or getting ready for advanced coursework.

Step 3

Teach, Monitor, and Adjust

Students meet with me one-on-one over Zoom using a virtual whiteboard, screen sharing, saved notes, and interactive practice. I monitor understanding and adjust each session as new material, assignments, and exams arise.
