About the ISEE Exam
The Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) is an admissions assessment for students entering Grades 2-12.
The ISEE Lower, Middle, and Upper levels contain four sections: verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, reading comprehension, and mathematics achievement. The test also includes an unscored essay.
ISEE Testing Seasons
Students may register to take the ISEE once per testing season. There are three testing seasons:

ISEE Primary Level
The ISEE Primary 2, 3, and 4 are for students applying to grades 2,3, or 4 respectively. The test is comprised of multiple-choice questions in Reading & Math.
The Primary 2 Level also features multiple-choice questions in Auditory Comprehension.
ISEE Lower Level
The ISEE Lower Level is for students applying to Grades 5 and 6. The total time is 2 hours and 20 minutes with two 5-to-10-minute breaks.

How to prepare for the ISEE?

How long is the ISEE?
The Lower Level ISEE is 2 hours and 20 minutes.
The Middle & Upper Level ISEE is 2 hours and 40 minutes.
How often can you take the ISEE test?
You may take the ISEE once per testing season, up to three times per school year.
- Fall testing season is from August to November
- Winter testing season is from December to March
- Spring Testing Season is from April to July
How long until I get my ISEE results?
For online exams, your Individual Student Report is posted to your account online within 48 hours.
For paper exams, reports are typically posted on the Monday, Wednesday, or Friday after testing.
When can I take the ISEE?
You can take the ISEE at home, at school, or at a prometric test center.
How do I register for the ISEE?
